Tyler’s First Day at Preschool

Tyler started preschool today. He got a new Thomas the Train backpack for his stuff. In the morning, he seemed excited to go to school. When we got there, he asked me where Je Je (Natalie) was, expecting that she would be at the same school. I told him that she went to a big kids school. We went into his classroom and met the teacher. Then David showed him the toilets and they practiced peeing and washing hands. After that, we got him warmed up with some toys and played with another kid. I hugged him and said good-bye and he was fine.

When I went to pick him up, his eyes welled up and he came to me and held my leg and cried. He kept saying he missed me and repeated it until we got home. The teacher said he cried a little during the day a few times and barely ate lunch, but he did nap well. Hopefully tomorrow will go better.

The Wedding Day

We had brunch mid-morning at Broken Yolk and then walked around the area. Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel and went to hang out at the pool before getting ready for the wedding.

Natalie has been waiting for this day for months! Ever since Auntie Irene bought her flower girl dress, she’s been asking when the wedding will be. On this day, she kept saying it was her lucky day coz she got to be the flower girl.

Here are some videos of the kids dancing. When we got back to the hotel that night, Natalie said her feet hurt.

Rehearsal Day

We started off the morning by having brunch at Brockton Villa in La Jolla. Recommended by a good friend, this place is across the street from the beach and had good food and a great view! After brunch we went to the beach and let the kids play a little while in the water before heading over to check out Uncle Alan’s new condo. In the afternoon we went to UTC (University Town Center?) to do some shopping and then headed back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding rehearsal. Natalie’s first time as a flower girl!

SeaWorld

We started our 4 day trip in San Diego by visiting SeaWorld. The kids had fun watching the Shamu show and looking at the various animal exhibits.

Shamu stadium. We got to the show a little late so we had to sit at the top level and couldn’t get splashed by Shamu.

Natalie, David, Po Po, and Uncle Way went on the Shipwreck Rapids ride while Tyler and Kaiya watched on the bridge waiting for them to pass by.

Ice cream truck

I can hear the music from the ice cream truck get louder and louder as it gets closer to the house. Natalie hears it and instantly starts running toward the front door with Tyler close behind. “Gong Gong! Ice cream truck!” Natalie shouts. Gong Gong is cooking dinner but stops to get some money and meets Tyler and Natalie outside. Tyler chooses a blue ghost ice cream with gumball eyes and Natalie chooses a Dora head with gumball eyes.

Pool Party

We had some friends over to swim yesterday followed by some burgers, hot dogs, and smoked chicken and turkey legs. The kids had fun playing games after swimming.

Uncle Chubber turns 21

Last sunday was Uncle Chubber’s 21st birthday. We celebrated by having dinner at Krung Thai.

The oldies

While waiting for our table, the kids were tricking Tyler by “pulling” coins out of his ear. They also told him to hop on one side and coins would fall out of his ear. As he hopped, they threw coins on the ground as if they really fell out of his ear. He was hopping all night and the next morning.

Home Depot helper

Last week, Tyler went with David to Home Depot to buy some concrete to fill the hole that Gong Gong had dug. Tyler got this apron and a kids project and brought it home to work on with Natalie.

Supervising a project

Gong Gong is visiting this week and has been helping us with little projects around the house. Here he is removing a brick planter that was holding some ivy. Tyler pulled up a chair to supervise and make sure he was doing a good job.
