Farmer’s Market

Now that school has started, we’re trying to get back to our regular schedule. One of our regular Sunday activities is going to the farmer’s market. The kids like to get corn on the cob and sample fruit that is in season. It’s fun to walk around and look at all the produce and often times we’ll run into school friends and their families too.

We got a variety of pluots today. They were very sweet!

Middle School

First day of school! Tyler joins Nat in middle school this year. Tyler’s in 6th grade and Nat’s in 8th grade. Both kids were excited for school today. Nat woke up extra early so she would have time to “get ready.” This morning they walked to school together and walked home together. Close to 5pm, Nat was so tired she fell asleep on the couch. We need to get back to our school sleeping schedules!

Summer vacation went by far too quickly this year. The school year started a bit earlier. The kids said they had a fun summer.

Tyler met his friends at a corner on the way to school so they could walk together.

A letter from Tyler

Camp turned out to be fun for both kids. The camp they went to was a Christian camp. Some friends of Tyler’s recommended it and we decided to try it this year. Tyler said it was fun and he wouldn’t mind going again next year. Nat enjoyed it as well, but felt that the religious aspects were a bit too much for her and would prefer to find a regular camp next year. Overall though, both kids had fun and made new friends. Tyler sent David and I the following letter while he was at camp. Nat didn’t write us.

In case you’re wondering about the P.S. It’s code between Tyler and I.
G.N = Good Night.
I.L.Y = I Love You
HK = Hello Kitty (He just threw this one in the letter as a quiz to me.)
Every night, he says to me GN! ILY!

Away Camp

The kids left for a sleep away camp on Sunday for a week. Their cousin Lindsey came from New Jersey to go to camp with them too! This isn’t the first time the kids have gone to camp (they had 5th grade science camp), but it’s the first time both have gone away to a camp together. They’ve only been gone for 2 days, but I miss them terribly. This is the first time they’ve been away and I haven’t been able to contact them. No cell phones allowed! I hope they are having a good time.

Camp drop off was very smooth and organized. The camp staff were very welcoming!
