Summer Bike Ride

Last week we went for a bike ride after dinner at Vasona Lake Park. It was so nice out and there weren’t many people there. We usually go on weekends and it’s really crowded, but on weekdays, it’s pretty calm, probably because the train and carousel are closed. There’s a nice biking/running/walking trail there and beautiful views of the lake.

This will be a nice summer activity since it doesn’t get dark so early.

Football Champs

Tyler’s Spring flag football season ended a couple weeks ago. His team won the championships! The playoffs were very dramatic with coach’s tempers heated, parents screaming, and disputes with the referees. In the end, the right team won… OURS! The boys played hard and were exhausted by the end. They went from 8:30a – 12:30pm with limited breaks! Each kid got a championship shirt and a trophy.

Father’s Day 2015

To celebrate Father’s Day today, David picked the activities today. We picked up some breakfast at Noah’s bagels and then headed over to Stanford University for a bike ride. It was a really nice day out, not a cloud in the sky. It wasn’t too hot either. This was the second time the kids rode around Stanford and my first, so they were showing me around the campus. I was surprised at the amount of people walking around campus given its already summer and it’s a Sunday. There were plenty of tourists too.

We closed our Sunday Funday with dinner at one of David’s favorite pho restaurants, Pho Kim Long. He ordered bun bo hue, and we ordered pho.

Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there!

Happy 11th Birthday Nat!

Natalie turned 11 yesterday! We celebrated by having a BBQ and some friends and family over. Morgan also can from Tucson and spent the weekend with us. I didn’t want to do parties this year, but felt we probably should do something since she just graduated from elementary school AND her birthday was on a Saturday. It was a very long day and I was exhausted by the end, but it was worth it after hearing Natalie say to me before going to bed, “Today was super fun!”

We had a yummy ice cream cake and celebrated with other June babies that were with us: Emma, Morgan, Bruce and Auntie Tul.

Moving on to Middle School

On Friday, Natalie graduated from elementary school, ending 5th grade with a nice ceremony to close out their school year. It’s hard to believe how quickly time has gone by and only seems like yesterday that she started Kindergarten! Nat is excited to start middle school and a new chapter in her life.

Buddies

It’s 103 degrees today! It’s days like today I’m glad we have a pool. As soon as we got home, the kids changed into their swimsuits and jumped into the pool. I on the other hand had to resume working! It’s nice that the kids can just jump into the pool with limited supervision. As I was working, I was also listening to them chat and laugh. It warms my heart that they are buddies and get along so well for the most part. I’m really glad they have each other.
