What’s for lunch?

A conversation in the car on the way home from Costco today:

Nat: What are we having for lunch today?

Me: Giraffaroni pizza

Nat: Oooooh! I want to eat the neck

Tyler: I want to play!

Nat: No Tyler, you have to eat lunch. Do you want to eat the butt?

Tyler: No!

Nat: hahahhahaha

Back to school night

It’s been a little over a week since Natalie started Kindergarten and she’s been having a great time. Our morning drop offs have been surprisingly smooth. She’s learning lots of stuff and brings it home and tries to teach Tyler. (Like rhyming words) Wednesday was back to school night. Her teacher Mrs. Arndt went through all the different things they are learning and will be learning throughout the year. She has been a teacher for 20 years. I was impressed with her and feel good that she is Natalie’s teacher. See, public schools aren’t all bad! These are some of Natalie’s art work that was posted in the classroom.

First Day of Kindergarten

Natalie’s first day of kindergarten was yesterday. We got to school a little early and waited while more and more children arrived. In my haste to get to school on time, I forgot to pack Natalie a snack. Luckily the teacher had extra to share with her. Parents were invited to stay for the first 20 minutes to do an activity with the children. We filled out a first day of school card and measured their height, weight, took a picture on the giant rocking chair, and use the bathroom and wash our hands. At the end of the activity, I said good-bye and gave Natalie a hug. She did such a good job and was a little sad to let me go, but followed along with the other kids and started the next activity with the teacher.

Natalie’s Preschool Graduation

nat_wrist_flower.jpg On Tuesday, Natalie graduated from her Preschool – Early Learning Center. There was a short ceremony with the kids singing songs and then the presentation of certificates followed by cake and ice cream. All the kids wore a tissue made flower on their wrist and had paper made graduation caps. Natalie had the largest family there. There were 7 of us including Tyler. Natalie was very sad that it was her last day of preschool and that she wouldn’t be attending Kindergarten with her friends. After graduation, we had dinner at Tofu House in Milpitas – Natalie’s choice. She loves the seaweed there.

Camden and Christopher’s end of summer party

Last Sunday, Camden and Christopher hosted an end of summer party at a park in Mountain View. The kids got to play on the swings, get their faces painted, play tug of war and even have a potatoe sac race! While Natalie and Tyler were swinging with Ba pushing them, I walked over and Tyler let go with one hand to wave at me and then he fell off the swing. Good thing he was ok.

Who gave Tyler a time out?

After dinner, Ba gave Tyler and Natalie each a bowl of champagne grapes to eat. Tyler was playing around with his bowl and spilled some of them on the kitchen floor. While Ba was cleaning the floor up, he noticed Tyler sitting down in the “time out” area so he asked me if I gave him a time out. I said no, maybe it was Natalie? So Ba asked asked Tyler, “Who gave you a time out?” and Tyler said, “I give it to myself.”

San Francisco Giants

First baseball game for the kids! I got 4 free tickets from work and it was a perfect day to go to a baseball game. The weather was nice and warm and we had seats in the shade which was nice. Natalie and Tyler didn’t really pay attention to the game, instead they enjoyed treats and people watched.

Lao Bet’s birthday dinner

We had dinner at a chinese restuarant in Fullerton to celebrate Lao Bet’s 77th birthday. We had so much delicious food! Peking duck, scallops, clams, squid, walnut prawns, lobster, and much more!

Nat was ready to eat!

After dinner, we went back to Lao Bet’s house in West Covina for cake. While we were taking pictures, Tyler leaned into the cake on the table and took a bite!

Treadmill

We got Gong Gong a treadmill over the weekend. The kids were giving him a live demo:
