Friday was the last day of Chinese school for this year. This is Natalie’s teacher, “Teacher Grace” taking a selfie with her students. She wanted to capture a memory with her class since she might not return as their teacher next year. We will be sad if she doesn’t.

Mother’s Day 2015
I’m catching up on my posts and if you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen this.
It’s becoming a tradition for the kids and David to wake up early on Mother’s Day and cook me a feast. Every year the kids come into my room to wake me up, and every year I snooze them away and tell them to come back later. 🙂
It’s always nice to see the cute projects the kids do at school for Mother’s Day. Nat always finds a way to add some Hello Kitty flair to her work. That’s my girl!

Santa Barbara
Last weekend we were in LA to celebrate Dr. Uncle Chubber’s graduation from USC School of Pharmacy. Congratulations again Uncle Chubber!
Since everyone was in town, Po Po planned a one day family trip to Santa Barbara. There were about 45 family and friends and we chartered our own bus! We stopped in Ventura/Oxnard for a boat ride and seafood lunch, then rode the Amtrak to Santa Barbara and checked out City Hall and State street. It was the first time me and the kids rode Amtrak, and it was nice! Natalie and Tyler had fun sitting in the back of the bus with all of their cousins and played games and watched movies. It was a fun day trip with lots of family bonding time.
Tyler’s Treat
Over the weekend, we went to Costco to pick up a few things. On the way, Tyler asked if he could get a berry smoothie and offered to pay for it himself. David said he had to buy him one too. Tyler agreed. He offered to buy me one too, but I declined. Tyler brought $5 with him. At Costco, we were in line to pay for our stuff, and I was going to just add the berry smoothies onto the total so we could avoid the food court line, but Tyler was insistent on going to the food court to order. So we did. Since he was paying, he wanted to handle the entire transaction himself. When it was our turn, I wasn’t sure if he wanted me to order, so I waited but sure enough, he ordered on his own. 2 berry smoothies and a hot dog (for himself). The total came out to $4 and change. When the cashier gave him his change, he put the change in a donation box next to the cash register that was a collection for the Children’s Hospital. I was pleasantly surprised by this kind gesture, but at the same time this is typical of Tyler’s good nature. He ended up giving me his free soda cup that he got with his hot dog, because he knows I like to drink soda. He was very proud that he was able to treat both David and I and buy himself a lunch. As we were leaving he said to me, “See Mom, everyone’s happy!”
