Tyler’s 1st Volleyball Game

Tyler’s first volleyball game was yesterday. He did a good job playing, but his team lost. They played one of the best teams in the district. Since it was their first game, the team took some time to gel, but it looks like they got it. Hopefully they’ll do better the next game.

Uncle Chubber, Theo, and Kiora came to watch too. Tyler was happy that several of us came to watch his game.

Boys Volleyball

Tyler had volleyball tryouts the week before Labor Day weekend. He had been practicing with David and his sister in preparation for this. He found out last Tuesday (9/5) that he made the final cut. Over 120 boys tried out and they cut more than half. He was so happy! Nat is also the “assistant coach” for the team too. She had gone to tryouts to watch Tyler and the coach asked her to help out since she was on the team last year. The coach gave Nat a whistle too, which made her feel extra special. To celebrate both kids’ success, we went to Yogurtland that evening for a treat.

Labor Day Weekend

We were in LA Labor Day weekend. It was no escape from the heat wave the Bay Area had. So Cal was equally hot! When we drove in late Friday night, we saw the La Tuna fire in its massive form in the canyons behind Burbank. There were some ashes blowing at us on the highway too. Turned out to be the largest fire in LA history!

To escape the heat, we went to the mall and finally got to check out the Hello Kitty pop up cafe at Westfield Santa Anita.

On Sunday, we went over to Uncle Steven’s house to celebrate his birthday. Melanie had a grand time playing with Tyler. She couldn’t say his name and would call him “Tyer” It was pretty cute.
