Christmas Eve 2020

Our first Christmas staying in San Jose. The kids were really sad to not be in LA. We tried our best to be festive and had a nice small dinner at home with Uncle J and family. We haven’t seen the twins in a long time so it was nice to get together with them.

David put together a really nice prime rib dinner feast. We had so much food!

We introduced the twins to Just Dance and they loved it! They’re pretty good dancers too.

At night I let the kids open their Christmas presents. Tyler said it didn’t feel like Christmas. He said it felt like “Pre-Christmas” and we should be going to LA next.

Gelato Fun

We received a box of gelato (Gelato Festival) in the mail as a gift from Uncle Alan and the kids could not wait to taste them all. This was such a fun experience for all 4 of us. We took turns reading about each flavor and tasting each one. Tyler would smell each one too. There were a few funny comments throughout:
“This one tastes like mushroom soup.”
“This one tastes like lotion.”
“This one tastes like sunscreen.”

Here’s our favorites:
Nat: #1 – Figs Pecan and Chocolate – Variegated fior di latte with carmelized figs, pecans, and dark chocolate
Tyler: #12 – Blueberry basil – Organic blueberries, fresh basil leaves, and a squeeze of lemon
David: #7 – Mimosa Siciliana – Blood orange and almond sorbet
Me: #2 – Fior di Mandorla – Almond gelato and lemon zest

Least favorites:
Nat & David: #4 – Hazelnut Truffle Stracciatella – An elegant combination of hazelnut, truffle, and acacia honey. (This was the one that tasted like mushroom soup.)
Me & Tyler: #3 Dama Pistachio – Pistachio, orange blossom, rose water. (This was the one that tasted like lotion.)

Making Wontons

David wanted to teach the kids how to make wonton noodles so he bought some ingredients and I showed them how to wrap the wontons. They came out pretty good for their first time. It’s cold tonight so it was a good night for noodle soup.
