Chili Garden and Yogurtland

On Saturday night, since everyone was over and I wasn’t really prepared for cooking a large meal, we decided to go have dinner at Chili Garden in Milpitas. We even ran into Mandy and Chris there! They were getting take out.

Natalie and Tyler loaded up on plain rice before the dishes came out. For some reason, they really like restaurant rice.

This is my favorite dish at Chili Garden: Tofu with fish fillet.

There wasn’t a table big enough for all of us so the teenies broke off to the “kids table”

After dinner, we stopped at Yogurtland for dessert

Then, after Yogurtland, we went to Yee Po’s house to hang out. Tyler was playing with the mah jong tiles.

ICEE

On Saturday, while we were eating lunch, I made a deal with the kids that if they did a good job eating lunch, I would take them to 7-11 to get ICEE’s after their naps. Somehow, Tyler took a very short nap and Natalie got away with not taking one. Both were very excited about their ICEE’s. Tyler got the “red” ICEE and Natalie picked “blue.”

Natalie tries ballet

Natalie tried out a ballet class today that Monique goes to. It’s taught in Chinese. She seemed to enjoy it so it looks like we’ll be signing up.

PPQ

Uncle J treated us to PPQ (www.ppqdungeness.com) on Saturday for dinner. (He lost a few bets and decided to pay up all at once!) We feasted on 5 crab dinners. It was delicious! Each crab dinner came with spring rolls and cabbage salad as the appetizer, crab, garlic noodles, and fried bananas with ice cream for dessert. We got spicy crab and peppercorn crab. Both were really tasty! We also substituted 2 of the garlic noodles with crab fried rice. Natalie and Tyler liked the fried calamari and garlic noodles.

7-11

Happy birthday to me! We started the day out by going to the Great Mall with Diana and family. Then more visitors! Christina and Genton flew in from LA. After picking them up from the airport, we went to Pho Kim Long to eat lunch. After lunch, the kids went to 7-11 for free slurpees and me, Diana, and Barry went to buy food for dinner. With so many people around, we decided to BBQ at home instead of eating out.

We had alot of food! Uncle Khang made beef kabobs and we grilled chicken and hot dogs. Big uncle also brought his deep fryer and made tempura. Uncle Khang also made me some spicy salmon rolls! yum yum.

Uncle Khang also made some super yummy clams with basil. They were all gone in a matter of minutes.

After swimming, Uncle J disappeared for nap. He woke up just in time to eat:

Wileen and the cake boss team (Uncle Chubber, Stephanie, & Jessie) also made me this beautiful Hello Kitty shaped cake. The inside was a vanilla cake with strawberry filling. So pretty! Thanks again Willy!

Ba also ordered my favorite cake: Tres Leche

After eating, everyone got together for a fun game of Cranium. I went to bed! What a day!

Visitors to kick off a fun filled weekend

Diana, Barry, Grace & Meliya drove up from LA on Thursday night to come visit and check out our new place. So I took the day off on Friday so we can hang out. We headed over to Santa’s for some Ramen and then drove to SF to go to Golden Gate Bakery. We ended up spending over $50 on pastries! They were mmmm mmmm good! After the bakery, we walked around Chinatown a little bit and then the kids went to play at the park at Portsmouth Square. At night, we had a low key dinner and then the kids went to Target and Yogurtland.

4th of July weekend

We spent 4th of July weekend in LA. I was hoping to be a lucky ticket winner to the Michael Jackson memorial at the Staples center but was unlucky. I was able to get a shirt in downtown LA though. On 4th of July, we went over to Uncle Way’s house for a BBQ. The kids were able to watch fireworks set off around the neighborhood from the backyard.
