Concert First

We went to our first concert as a family last night at Shoreline Amphitheater. A friend of mine gave us four tickets and since we didn’t have other plans, we made a fun night of it. The venue is really nice and it was a nice summer evening for an outdoor concert. The singer was Charlie Puth with an opening act by Hailee Steinfeld.

Nat’s friend Eva happened to be there too which made it more fun for her! We picked up some food and had a nice picnic while waiting for the show to start.

Back to School 2018

It’s back to school week! Natalie started high school on Monday and Tyler started 7th grade today. Both kids got back into the school rhythm pretty easily this week.

Natalie made the freshman volleyball team at school and has been practicing after school. She seems to have mixed feelings about high school but overall is having a good time. She’s happy to see her friends again.

Tyler spent almost 10 minutes doing his hair this morning! He also asked me to iron his shirt. We’ll see how long this keeps up. I almost forgot to take his picture today and before he left for for school, he came rushing to my room and said, “Mom! You have to take my 1st day of school picture!!”

Cakemaster

Yesterday was Auntie Yin’s birthday and she had a Hawaiian themed birthday party. Nat made her this pineapple cake. The inside was a vanilla cake. It took her about 4 hours to make the cake and it came out really nice! Everyone at the party thought I bought the cake and were amazed to hear that Natalie made it.

Happy birthday Auntie Yin!

Badminton Camp

Tyler finished his first badminton camp last week. I’m not sure how he got interested in this sport, but he’s been into it for a few months now, so I signed him up for a week long day camp. He really enjoyed playing, especially with more challenging players. David even bought him a nice racket for getting straight As the last quarter of school. He said he’d like to go back again next summer!
