Another Trip to Monterey

On Saturday we decided to utilize our memberships and drove to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the day. It was such a nice day! There was an event going on at the Aquarium too with local vendors sampling their goods, chefs doing cooking demos, and kid crafts.

Peanut Butter test

Yesterday while at Target buying meat for dinner, I got sucked into buying a pack of Reese’s Pieces (peanut butter and chocolate) candy while in line at the cashier. Anyway, I went to pick the kids up from school after and of course Natalie was all over it. Then Tyler saw them and Nat says “You can’t have any Tyler. There’s peanut butter inside.” And of course he got sad. So I let him have 1. How bad can 1 little Reese’s Pieces be? He liked it no doubt. So I let him have one more and Nat says “If your tongue gets itchy, tell mom right away.” Luckily no reaction. Either he’s outgrowing the peanut allergy or the amount of peanut was too little.

Bangs

On Sunday I asked David to trim Nat’s bangs because they were getting too long and I didn’t want to spend $15 on a haircut for her. Somehow, he managed to butcher her bangs and cut them way too short. That night she said to me, “Next time let’s go to the salon.” On Monday she was embarrassed to go to school and asked me to clip her bangs to the side.

Riding Bikes

Natalie and Tyler have both taken their training wheels off and having been practicing riding bikes almost daily. Natalie looks so cute riding her Hello Kitty bike! We have matching bikes 🙂

Mother’s Day

Sunday morning at 7:30am Natalie comes into our room and pokes David and whispers “Dad, Mother’s Day surprise.” David gets up slowly but surely. He didn’t get to bed til 3:00am the night before because he was catching up on some work. I think she woke Tyler up too coz by the time they got to my room, he fell back to sleep on my bed while Nat was trying to wake David up. While setting up in the kitchen I can hear Natalie instructing Tyler “Tyler, when Mom comes out, you stand here like this and yell SURPRISE!”

Natalie was super excited about making me a Mother’s Day surprise. All week she was talking about it and would ask me questions trying to be nonchalant. “What do you like to eat for breakfast?” or “What kind of presents do you like?” She worked on cards in her room behind closed doors and wouldn’t let me peek.

For breakfast they made pancakes and sliced strawberries with whipped cream and syrup, hash browns, eggs, and sausages. Natalie set up the table with flowers and the cards they made. She even made me coupons that could be redeemed for hugs and kisses and cleaning up.

To Tyler it was just another fun morning.

My present. There’s a bottle of perfume inside.

Mother’s Day Breakfast

On Friday, Tyler’s classroom hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast. The kids got to serve bagels with cream cheese and fruit. After breakfast the kids sang two songs.

On the white board in the back of the classroom was written “I love my mom because…” and each child’s name was written with the rest of the sentence. Next to Tyler’s name it read “she cooks for me.”
