Today the kids went to the Dollar store. Nat said Tyler bought 4 things. He loves junky stuff that can be found at Dollar stores.
Birdie and Ronald went to play with the kids today too. Nat did some arts and crafts with Birdie and Tyler played with Ronald. After dinner, they went to Rite Aid for ice cream.
For Nats birthday present, we got her an iPod touch so now she can FaceTime and text us whenever she wants. She’s enjoying being able to stay connected to us all day.
David and I flew back to San Jose last night. We left Natalie and Tyler with Po Po and Gong Gong for the rest of the week.
Today the kids went to Ikea so Po Po could exchange some stuff. They had fun playing with all the kids stuff there.
This evening while Face Timing with Nat, she got really teary eyed and later cried. She said she really missed us. This is the kids’ first time being away from us since they were babies.
Uncle J and Auntie Tul’s wedding was this past weekend in LA. Natalie got to be a flower girl (her 4th time!) and Tyler got to be the ring bearer. Natalie was very excited about getting to be a flower girl again. It was a long day, but everyone had a great time. Tyler especially loved dressing up for the photobooth at the reception.
Last night, the kids’ great-grandmother “Tai Pau” (my grandmother), arrived at SFO from Indonesia. She has come to live in the US. We went to the airport to pick her and Auntie up. Both Natalie and Tyler have been fortunate enough to know both their great-grandmothers.
While we were waiting, there was a man with a turban and long white beard that walked by us. Big Uncle told Tyler that he was a Genie. So Tyler shouts to Natalie, “Je Je! It’s a Genie!” Luckily the man didn’t hear him.

A happy moment
This morning, Tyler went to say good morning to Tai Pau and I found him sitting with her
Tyler lost his second tooth yesterday. It became loose and fell out the same day!
This morning at around 7am I heard him crying in his room so I went over to see what was wrong. He lifts up his pillow and says “The tooth fairy didn’t come.” Well, the tooth fairy did come, the money just fell over the side of the bed. He got $3. He was happy.
We kicked off summer vacation by spending the day at Capitola Beach. The weather was great and the kids had fun playing in the sand and water. We picked a good day to go coz it was 100 degrees in San Jose!
We picked up some KFC and had a picnic too.
I guess everyone else escaped the heat by going to the beach too. It got very crowded!
Today is Nat’s 8th birthday. Time has really flown by! I can’t believe I’ve been a mom for 8 years already.
To celebrate her birthday at school, she packed up treat bags with cookies and brownies. On Monday evening we baked Andes Mint Chip cookies and last night we baked chocolate chip cookies. Each treat bag had one of each cookie and a mini brownie.
For dinner, Nat chose The Cheesecake Factory. She likes eating here because of the cheesecakes and all the whip cream that comes with it!
Last Friday Tyler’s kindergarten class had an end of year performance (instead of a graduation ceremony). When I arrived at the auditorium the kids were already lined up on stage. I saw Tyler scanning the room looking for me, so I stood in the middle of the aisle until he saw me and then we waved to each other. His face lit up when he saw me and was happy that I didn’t forget to come. The kindergarteners sang 10 songs. Tyler kept looking over at me and smiling the whole time.
