Mother’s Day 2018

This morning, following tradition, my trio woke up early and made me a nice Mother’s Day breakfast. Tyler recently learned how to make a Toad in a hole in cooking class and was excited to make it for me for breakfast today. It came out really good. I’ve always wanted to try this.

In the afternoon, Nat made me a beautiful chocolate cake. She made everything from scratch and was so patient piping all the flowers on. She was proud of her work and so am I.

The other night, we bought a pineapple because I needed to make some pineapple wedges as a garnish for Hawaiian drinks at work. When we got home, David was preparing to cut the pineapple. But he and Natalie decided to have some fun with it first.

Who knew Natalie was so strong?

And here’s the blooper

A trip to Whole Foods

Last week while I was cooking dinner, Tyler was doing his homework, and David was fixing the fridge… Nat stood up and said “Today I took a history test and was the only one that got 100%.” None of us reacted since we were all busy. I asked Nat to help me in the kitchen and when she was done she came back around and said in a louder voice, “Did you guys hear what I said?!” Tyler said he didn’t hear. David just blinked at her. Me, I said I heard but expected nothing else. She wasn’t happy.

After dinner, the doorbell rang and I asked Nat to check. It was a delivery and as soon as I saw the package I knew what it was. I told her it was a present for her since she did so well on her test. She protested, “You didn’t even know I was taking a test!” She opened the package and saw that it was a Whole Foods gift card. One of her favorite stores. She quickly changed her demeanor and thanked me. I redeemed myself.

So Sunday evening, I took her to Whole Foods and she was happy.
