Tyler’s Treat

Over the weekend, we went to Costco to pick up a few things. On the way, Tyler asked if he could get a berry smoothie and offered to pay for it himself. David said he had to buy him one too. Tyler agreed. He offered to buy me one too, but I declined. Tyler brought $5 with him. At Costco, we were in line to pay for our stuff, and I was going to just add the berry smoothies onto the total so we could avoid the food court line, but Tyler was insistent on going to the food court to order. So we did. Since he was paying, he wanted to handle the entire transaction himself. When it was our turn, I wasn’t sure if he wanted me to order, so I waited but sure enough, he ordered on his own. 2 berry smoothies and a hot dog (for himself). The total came out to $4 and change. When the cashier gave him his change, he put the change in a donation box next to the cash register that was a collection for the Children’s Hospital. I was pleasantly surprised by this kind gesture, but at the same time this is typical of Tyler’s good nature. He ended up giving me his free soda cup that he got with his hot dog, because he knows I like to drink soda. He was very proud that he was able to treat both David and I and buy himself a lunch. As we were leaving he said to me, “See Mom, everyone’s happy!”
