Hanging out in Palo Alto

red_mango_logo.jpg Uncle Tommy was in town for some Oracle training this week so he stayed over last night. We picked up Mimi from Stanford and had dinner at Miyake’s in Palo Alto. Afterwards, the group walked over to Red Mango to have some frozen yogurt while I made a mad dash to the Standford Shopping Center to pick up a dress.

I heard this Red Mango was opened by a winner of “Survivor”. The place was packed! What a gold mine. We all agreed that it wasn’t as good as Pinkberry, but it was pretty good. It’s just not as tart as Pinkberry.

ooops!

Tyler got hold of a fork and we weren’t paying attention… (the bigger holes he managed to get his fists through the 2nd day) This window is in the “nook” area in the kitchen.

Labor Day in LA – Part 2!

beach_silly.jpg Here are some more pictures from the rest of our week in LA. On Thursday, we went to Hermosa Beach, the kids loved it! It was a nice day too, not too sunny and hot. It was just right. And school already started for the local schools, so there weren’t that many people there. Then on Friday, we went to Chuck E Cheese’s for Spencer’s 2nd birthday party. Needless to say, the kids loved that too. There was a photo booth there that was really popular. One coin and it spits out a photo of you that looks like its pencil drawn. It was pretty cool. That evening, we headed over to David’s mom’s house to celebrate Uncle Tommy and Uncle Steven’s birthday and we ended up staying over for a slumber party with Grace and Meliya. The next day, our last day in LA, we went to the LA zoo again with Grace and Meliya. Wanted to take advantage of our annual pass and we were able to get them in for free. Here’s a video from the beach:

Dreaming again

This morning while having cereal:

Nat: “Mom, I had a good dream last night”

Me: “Oh really? About what?”

Nat: “I dreamed that I was at Disneyland and I saw Sleepy Beauty.”

(Sleeping Beauty is Nat’s favorite Disney princess)

Labor Day week in LA

kids_grandma.jpg We’re spending Labor Day week in LA. It’s mid-week and the kids have had alot of activity. We got here last Saturday and headed over to David’s mom’s place to pray for the anniversary of his grandfather’s death. The kids had fun playing and there was so much food! We’ve also been shopping and the kids even went to the zoo. Tomorrow we’re heading the to beach!

Grandma got this pink chair from Big Lots that Natalie really enjoyed relaxing on.

After praying and having lunch at Grandma’s house, we headed over to Uncle Ming Ming’s for a BBQ. Even more food!! Tyler had fun talking to Uncle Ming Ming’s bird.

Yesterday, David took the kids to the LA Zoo. I had to work and they were bored at home so they went. David saw on the LA Zoo website that you can get an Annual Family pass for $75 and it’s tax deductible, so he thought why not?

A buddy’s birthday party

The kids went to Aiden’s 2nd birthday party over the weekend at LickMill Park. It was a great day to be at the park. We enjoyed BBQ and a Thomas the train birthday cake. Aiden was pretty chill throughout. A funny moment was when we were singing “Happy Birthday” and this old lady who was picking through the trash for recyclables came over and started playing her harmonica to the tune of the song.

Gong Gong visits

ty_grrr.jpg Rosamaria (Tyler’s daycare provider) went on vacation for 2 weeks so Gong Gong came to stay with us and take care of Tyler. What a treat it was! Came home everyday not having to worry about dinner and got to eat yummy food! Plus he helped us move and clean which was really great, cause it was too much for me to handle! Tyler got to go to the park and McDonalds a few times too. Gong Gong was pretty bored here though. So we took him to the San Mateo County Fair and he got to go to Bay Meadows. At the fair, Natalie got her face painted for the first time. She once saw her friend’s face painted and thought it was cool so she wanted to do it too.

There was an open stage at the fair where kids can go up and sing songs. Tyler just stood around and breathed into the mic.

Heartie

This morning Natalie woke up early, so she came over to our room and followed David around as he got ready for work. David says to Natalie, “I’m going to call you ‘Shadow’.”

Nat: “No, my name is ‘Heartie‘… it means ‘I love you’. ”

David: “Oh, then what’s my name?”

Nat: “‘Biggie’, because you’re big”

She proceeded to name me ‘Flower’ and Tyler ‘Caterpillar’.

Aloha Festival

laulau.jpg We went to the Aloha Festival in San Francisco on Saturday. The place was packed! When we got there, we went straight for the food. Lines were crazy long! Food & drinks were pricey too. A cup of Rainbow shaved ice = $5! The kids had a good time. We got some food and sat under a tree on the grass and ate, while listening to the Hawaiian music from the stage. Uncle Way, Auntie Marissa, Kaiya and her grandparents met us there, so we got to hang out. After we ate, we walked around the booths and looked at all the Hawaiian goods for sale and briefly watch some performances.

After we got back to San Jose, we decided to go to Pasta Pomodoro for dinner. David grabbed Uncle Chubber off guard and I snapped this funny pic!

On Sunday, we went to the Farmer’s market in Los Gatos. Tyler found this fake dog outside a pet shop and started to pet it.
