The kids were outside playing today and this is what I found them doing.
Nat & Tyler
No New Friends
Yesterday we were at Costco. I found Tyler in the shopping cart with this bear.
“Mom! Can we buy this?”
“No.”

Tyler’s 6th Birthday
First thing in the morning, Tyler comes running into my room – not caring that I’m still asleep – he asks, “Am I much taller today??” So excited it’s his birthday, he thinks since he went from 5 to 6 years old overnight, he got alot taller too.
His birthday party was at Pump It Up this year. We invited his entire class and some other friends. He was so excited and anxious about his party all week!

After running around for awhile, Tyler came to me and told me something was hurting his toe. He took off his sock and I saw a splinter in his big toe. It was a tiny hair.

With the help of Auntie Eileen, I was able to get out with my finger nails.

Pancake Breakfast
Yesterday was the kids’ school annual pancake breakfast fundraiser. For $5, we got 3 pancakes with bacon and a drink! Parents and teachers volunteer to help and Applebee’s provides the facility.

Big Girl
Lately Nats been more conscious of what she’s wearing and how she looks. When I comb her hair, she tells me not to push her bangs back – she likes them combed straight down. She will choose her outfits and accessorize them with matching hairbows and jewelry.
This is her collection of hair bows and clips

We recently went to the mall and she picked out a few earrings at Claire’s. Here she hangs them in a box (next to my box of earrings). Everyday she picks out a pair of earrings to wear with her outfit.

Valentines Day
This year, the kids made me a pretty (and yummy!) heart shaped Valentines cake. It was a double layer of chocolate cake with cream filling. Natalie especially enjoyed decorating the cake. Tyler just wanted to eat the candy. Valentines Day is one of Natalie’s favorite holidays. She loves the exchange of Valentines cards and candy and the fun craft stuff she gets to do.

Dancing
On Saturday night, the kids decided to put on a show for David and I. They called it “Dancing with the stars”. They got dressed up in silly outfits and danced around and told some jokes. It was funny watching Tyler basically do anything his sister told him to.

Nat Knitting
This afternoon I caught Nat knitting while listening to music. She didn’t know I was taping her. You can see her thinking about stuff and moving her body to the music.
Nat’s Family Tree Speech
For one of her 2nd grade assignments, Nat has to put together a family tree and write & memorize a speech. She also has to bring a special item and talk about it. I captured a video of her practicing her speech today. It’s due in 1 week.

Who’s the smartest?
This evening while doing homework, I told Tyler how smart he was. He did a really good job finishing his homework and read some books to me.
Me: Are you the smartest one in your class?
Tyler: No, Mikaela is.
Me: Mikaela? Why is she the smartest?
Tyler: Because she lost the most teeth. You are smart when you lose your teeth.
Me: Why?
Tyler: Because you get money.
