Football Champions

Last Sunday was Tyler’s football playoff’s. They had to first play 3 games against 3 different teams (they won all 3) and then moved on to the finals and played 2 more teams and won both of those games too. There’s a kid on the team named Martin who is the star player and made almost all the touchdowns which lead the team to victory. This is Tyler’s first season playing flag football and he hasn’t shown a lot of enthusiasm, but tries his best when he’s playing. We’re going to try again in the fall and see how it goes. This is the first trophy he’s ever won and he was really excited about it.

Wounded

Tyler fell off his bike yesterday and scraped himself against the concrete. When he first showed me his wound my eyes almost popped out. It was very red, but he seemed ok. That is, until he took a shower. The water stung and he cried like a baby!

Mom, can I go shopping?

Last week, Nat asked me if she could go shopping at the mall with her friends. She said she was talking with 2 of her friends from school and they asked her to ask me if she could go with them. Apparently her other 2 friends have done it before and now that want to include Nat. She also added that she would “bring her own money.” I haven’t given her an answer yet.

I was trying to remember how old I was when I started to go to the mall with my friends. I use to go to the mall all the time with my neighbor and good friend Jenna. Her dad would drop us off at the mall and wait in the car sometimes a block away until we were done. Sometimes, my dad would take us too. My favorite store was called “The Expanding Wall” I think. It was store that carried lots of random things like stationery, pens, gifts, dust collectors, etc. I loved buying & collecting stationery at the time. (Email wasn’t around yet!)

She hasn’t asked me again, but if she does, should I let her go? (It would be chaperoned) She’s turning 9 next week.

Cherry Picking

On Saturday we went to a Cherry farm to pick cherries in Gilroy. The place was called Buckley Farms and was a “U-Pick” type of farm. The kids had fun picking and eating cherries. The place had Bing and Rainier cherries and there were lots of cherry trees! We ending buying around 20lbs of cherries and got to eat a lot while picking. We’ll be eating cherries for awhile…

Auntie Kathy told us about this place. Their family also went on Saturday.

Open House

Our school had Open House last week. We got to spend time in the kids’ classrooms and look at different things they’ve been learning and worked on.

Tyler wrote about a narwhal and made one too:

Happy Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day! The kids made a huge breakfast this morning and showered me with gifts. One of Nat’s presents was a coupon book. One of the coupons said “I will be nice to Tyler for 2 hours.” I asked her why not the whole day and she said “it’s too hard when you have Tyler for a brother!”

Definition of Fainting

Yesterday we were walking outside and Tyler was complaining about the heat and being tired.

Tyler: I’m so tired, I’m going to faint!
Me: Do you even know what the word “faint” means?
Tyler: It’s when it’s so hot and you fall over and then you like die but then you come back to life.
