Meixian – China Day 1

Nov 10

After having a quick buffet style breakfast at our hotel, we shuttled back to the airport and boarded a plane to Meixian, a small city that’s a 40 minute plane ride away from Guangzhou. Popo and Gong Gong’s flight from LA was delayed so they didn’t join us til later in the evening.

Breakfast

Meixian airport (it was very small)

After checking into our hotel – The Ramada – the 10 of us walked over to a big mall called “Wanda.” Nat found a shop to fix her iPhone screen which has been very cracked for several months for $130 RMB (under $20). It came back like new! We also had lunch at a noodle place called Dagu Rice Noodle. The total for 10 of us was just under $40 USD. While walking to the mall, I very nearly got hit by a car while crossing the street. I’m too use to pedestrians having the right of way in the US. Not the case here. It scared the underwear off everyone!

Lunch

In the evening, there was a welcome dinner for everyone at our hotel. This turned out to be much larger than I expected. There were at least 100 people. All here from around the world for the big 100 anniversary of the Chiu home.
